The “Right-Wing” in Europe Denied Voice and Vote
Not just in Romania. And it is too close to happening in America.
Yes, I know I was going to write less on politics, and that is still my intention. But what is happening in Europe is important . . . and it will keep bugging me if I don’t write on it, so . . .
A disclaimer at the start: this will be of necessity a big picture post. To go into much detail would create something I neither have time to write nor you to read. I might go into more detail another day, but not today.
I should also warn that intellectually dishonest comments from obvious Globalist stooges and bots will likely be deleted. I’ve already done that once on a note.
——
A revealing election in Eastern Europe has gotten very little attention in the U. S. — perhaps I should say what was an election and became a coup. Last month Calin Georgescu, a deeply religious populist who likes Trump and dislikes the war in Ukraine, did surprisingly well in Romanian presidential elections. So well that he was likely to win the second round that was to occur this past weekend.
You read that right. The second round was to occur. Romania’s politicized Constitutional Court stepped in and nullified the first round and cancelled the second round on the pretext that Russia financed some Tik Tok promotions. Now Georgescu and supporters are being investigated for possible criminal charges.
Hmm. “Russia! Russia! Russia!” followed by disregard of elections and trumped-up charges. (Pun intended.) Sound familiar?
Rod Dreher posted a good summary of this coup and of the situation in Romania. The usual Fake News makes it sound like Georgescu’s victory was manufactured. It was not. Much like in the U. S., people were fed up, and elites were surprised by them voting accordingly.
And guess who is among those supporting the coup in Romania? The Biden State Department. Their statement just before the coup was worthy of the Mafia:
Romania’s hard-earned progress anchoring itself in the Transatlantic community cannot be turned back by foreign actors seeking to shift Romania’s foreign policy away from its Western alliances. Any such change would have serious negative impacts on U.S. security cooperation with Romania, while a decision to restrict foreign investment would discourage U.S. companies from continuing to invest in Romania.
“Gosh, Romania, you have some nice U. S. investments there. It would be a shame for you to lose them.”
By the way, this episode is another illustration of why you cannot trust “mainstream” “news”. BBC World radio, to which I listen too much, parroted the line that Russia interfered and manipulated the election to elect this “Far Right fringe” candidate that otherwise had no chance of winning.
That is the big picture so far on Romania. It is part of a bigger picture in most of Europe and in the U. K. If your views are “right-wing,” your voice is suppressed and your vote nullified. In several countries, it is for all practical purposes a perpetual coup against democracy.
In Germany, the Left and centrist parties betrayed Germans for years, particularly by letting criminals and invaders right on in. So the AfD has become the second most popular party. But now there is an effort to ban the AfD.
In France, not only are the Globalists shutting out the National Rally from power as best they can with a shambolic coalition, they are engaging in lawfare against Rally leader Marine Le Pen in an attempt to keep her off the 2027 presidential ballot.
Again, sound familiar?
And in the UK, the voters again and again voted to end the Invasion by voting for Brexit and by voting for the Conservative Party that again and again promised to reduce immigration and “stop the boats.” The Conservatives, of course, did neither. The Invasion became even worse under them. And now if you speak out against what the invaders are doing to Britain, you might get a knock on the door.
Whether Labour or the Tories are in power doesn’t make much difference with the above. Hence Reform UK is now the second most popular party. But will they ever be allowed any power? Or will Reform’s Nigel Farage get the Le Pen treatment?
You get the picture. The European Globalist establishment is all for democracy as long as the right people, themselves, have the power. And if you don’t want them in power, they will do their worst to nullify your votes and perhaps shut you up as well. That is what on this side of the Pond is called “Our Democracy.”
Speaking of this side of the Pond, we Americans cannot be smug and point fingers at Europe. Democrats and RINOs came too close to succeeding in nullifying democracy here with their lawfare, election rigging and fraud, “Russia! Russia!” and other phony scandals, speech suppression, and even banning opposition from the ballot. And they actually did succeed in their perpetual coup for a time in 2020.
In 2024, it finally backfired on them. (But even this year, they came perilously close to stealing the House. There is little question Democrats stole a dozen or more House seats.) But it will take more than one election to stop their efforts against Constitutional democracy. We need to be warned by what happened here and in Europe and nearly happened here again and build the infrastructure, both political and extra-political, to resist and defeat their anti-democratic and anti-freedom designs.
But that subject will have to wait for another day.
