I don’t follow but know a couple I suspect do but not because they are fans- they are keeping an eye on him and want to be able to address the Mahler issue as it has already come up for at least one from parishioners.
We should also keep in mind with figures such as this that generate an outsized amount of drama - train wrecks were quite the popular spectator thing a century or so back. We haven’t changed much only the nature of the trains.
