Of course one can not in any sense serve God too if one is a sinner. To be a sinner is to be completely Godless.
Sin is the mind-based presumption of separation. It thus darkens every dimension of ones being/existence and all of ones actions too.
There is no Real Existence until sin is transcended. All actions and all states of presumed knowledge and experience are empty, unsatisfactory, painful, and problematic until the mind based presumption of separation from The Living Divine Being is utterly transcended.
