On behalf of pasty faced Americans everywhere, I object!

In fact, Mark, Richard Land did not succeed Russell Moore at ERLC, Moore replaced Land. The Wikipedia entry about Land is illuminating. It makes it easier to understand why this previously sensible man would have participated in this folderol.

I'm of two opinions about illegal immigration, and they do not conflict. First, having lived in Houston most of my life, I knew twenty - five years ago that this was going to happen. What we are seeing is a broadening, not an opening. The Big Eva folks in the ad have surely not had my experience, because I can guarantee they all have a lot more money than I've ever had. They have not had to put up with gangs discharging their fully automatic rifles into the night air to celebrate the New Year, and, oh yes, to intimidate their neighbors. ( Speaking of sheep and goats, it's too bad Big Eva doesn't care about the American people as a people of neighbors. ) They haven't had to put up with four gunshot murders on their blocks in a single year. And I'd bet $100 that none of them has ever had the window seven feet from where they were sleeping bashed in at 4:00 AM.

It's been pointed out many times that possession is 9/10 of the law. There is no doubt that the ancestors of many of us committed crimes against humanity in the United States, and there is equally no doubt that by 1970, this country had turned itself inside out to try to equalize conditions for the descendants of those who were exploited. We made a nation, and the people who made it had a right to keep it. Patriotism isn't unChristian any more than a wife's wish that her husband not sleep with other women an infliction of cruelty on them by sexual denial.

My second opinion is this: God judges nations. We've had something like seventy - five million abortions in the United States in the last fifty years. I'm in that 1% of freakishness in American men because I've never seen Internet porn. ( I'm not being smug; taste is taste. ) 70% of the American people approve of same sex marriage. I don't know what the percentage of Americans who believe in the genuineness of sex change through dope and butchery is, but I do know that if Americans wanted it stopped, it would be stopped.

The Big Eva people are so concerned about poverty, but it's likely they go to dinner parties in neighborhoods in which I'd be arrested as a trespasser.

These are scattered thoughts as I behold the collapse of my country. Rant on, Mark.

Thanks, I will!

And thanks for clearing up my confusion about Land.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

Are full of passionate intensity...

– W.B. Yeats, "The Second Coming" (1919)
