Most readers are aware of the attack on peaceful pro-Israel demonstrators yesterday in Boulder, so I will not rehash. But most of the details so far may found here, including this:
According to Fox news reporter Bill Melugin, three DHS sources said that the Boulder terror suspect is an Egyptian national in the U.S. illegally as a visa overstay who entered the U.S. during the Biden administration.
According to the report, Mohamed Sabry Soliman arrived at LAX on 8/27/22 on a B1/B2 nonimmigrant visa with an authorized stay through 2/26/23, but he overstayed & never left.
Then, on 9/29/22, he filed some sort of claim with USCIS, potentially an asylum claim, and on 3/29/23, USCIS under the Biden admin gave him work authorization, which expired on 3/28/25.
So Soliman was one of the Biden Regime’s fake refugees. Oh, and the FBI says he was yelling “Free Palestine” during the attack. Yes, the perp’s background and actions are all too typical.
As I was writing this, Sasha Stone posted on this terrorist attack. As is usual she is worth reading.
I will focus here on how we should respond. Yes, this will have to be a broad brush post.
U. S. and state governments should take the gloves off and crack down on Islamists and other Hamas Nazis by all legal means necessary. They are enemies within. Many of them are invaders. Too many are violent and even terrorists. All advocate “globalizing the intifada.” The crack down must also target government officials, NGOs, and other entities who continue to harbor and enable these terrorists and terrorist sympathizers.
Although this does not directly apply to the Boulder attack, this includes stripping citizenship from naturalized citizens who have obviously violated their citizenship oaths by grave crimes and advocacy for terror and/or treason. Yes, that means Congresswoman Ilhan Omar gets deported. If current law does not allow such action, then the law needs to be changed while protecting free speech and political disagreement.
But most of what I have to say goes to fellow churchpeople and to political allies.
To my political allies on the Right, we must stop playing with antisemitism. Antisemitism and other identity politics is not nearly a big a problem on the Right as it is on the Left — which is why I reject use of the “Woke Right” label — but it is still a problem.
I get how being fed up with being smeared as antisemitic invites the transgressiveness of playing with actual antisemitism. I get how the actions of some Jews, such as the Soros and Pritzkers, can and does provoke, as it does me, although I remind that evil is very multiethnic and very multicultural. I also remind that there are many Jews who oppose the evil of Soros and Co. (By the way, I knew the Soros and Pritzkers were evil long before I found out they were Jewish.)
Nonetheless, those on the Right who have played with the boundaries of antisemitism, if not diving right in, need to stop it — now. It is not only flat wrong, it is stupid. If continued, it will repel good people who would otherwise be on our side. I know the antisemitism adjacent are a small minority, if a vocal minority, on the Right, but they are harming good causes and will cause greater harm as Americans get more and more fed up with antisemitism. Let Marxist Hamas Nazi scum be antisemites, not any of us.
This goes double for fellow Christians, whether they are on the Right or not. Jesus was a Jew. He said, “Salvation is of the Jews.” (John 4:22) Most (all?) of our Scriptures are written by Jews. So antisemitism should have no place among us. And that includes the antisemitism of “Free Palestine” garbage. Let us avoid even the appearance of antisemitism. As St. Paul wrote, “abstain from all appearance of evil.” (2nd Thess 5:22 KJ)
But there is an additional larger problem among Christians, one I have warned about before.
Churches Should STOP Aiding the Invasion
Yesterday here on my substack, I podcasted with some vehemence that we need a revival of self-defense that includes a reassertion that Western civilization, life, and property rights are worth defending and should be defended.
We must not engage in the foolishness of advocating for or enabling the Invasion of recent years. Among the problems the West and the U. S. has imported during the Invasion is masses of virulent antisemites. The Boulder attacker is one example. Many of the “students” involved in “Free Palestine” protests are other examples. Foolish Christians and fake Christians who oppose stopping the Invasion and deporting the invaders are therefore complicit in this importation of antisemitism. So no more of this sort of crap…
I will go further and state that bishops and relevant authorities in orthodox churches should discipline clergy who persist in so siding with invaders. We must discipline such clergy to avoid our churches being associated with pro-invasion advocacy. This association is already a problem harming the credibility of my Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).
Yes, these are not half-measures I am advocating. Terrorist attacks against Jews are multiplying. A righteous backlash against those who enable or even advocate antisemitism is at hand. So it is all the more urgent to disassociate ourselves, our causes and our churches from antisemitism. For it is not only wrong but will surely discredit and harm the good we are trying to do. Instead we should support actions against the “Free Palestine” Nazis and antisemite invaders, not oppose such needful and urgent efforts.
Mark, I totally agree that the ACNA bishops and leadership should stamp out antisemitism wherever and whenever it rears its ugly head, particularly among clergy. But also they should not be stupid cowards who deliberately misinterpret a gesture with an upraised hand as a Nazi salute when it clearly is nothing of the kind. It is a gesture more commonly used these days by many politicians and activists on both the left and the right indicating ‘our hearts are together’.
Democrats screaming they hate fascists are always the same ones practicing fascism, and instead of denouncing political violence, Democrats are encouraging it. https://torrancestephensphd.substack.com/p/the-american-political-party-of-violence
