Good explanation of why we have some non-geographic dioceses. One further reason is, that when ACNA started, there were some Anglican Churches residing in areas that didn't have a geographical diocese. They may have come out of AMIA or some other Anglican body, perhaps some being even independent Anglican (oxcymoronic right?), so they had to affiliate with some diocese, some where. That was the case for those of us in Chicagoland at the time of ACNA's inception.
