I’ve repeatedly posted about the necessity of reinventing eduction given the decline of education in the U. S. More and more people are getting that . . . .
So it should be no surprise that Elon Musk gets it. Better, he is doing something about it by starting new schools.
Elon Musk is spending $100m (£80m) to set up schools and a university in Texas as the world’s richest man complains of a “meaningful degradation” in the skills of graduates.
Mr Musk is planning to open a primary and secondary school in Austin focused on science, technology, engineering and maths (Stem), which will ultimately expand to a university….
Earlier this week, Mr Musk said that his companies Tesla and SpaceX had “noticed a meaningful degradation in the capability of US college graduates over the past several years”.
Mr Musk has said in the past that elite schools are giving children a “Soviet level of indoctrination”.
Yep, indoctrination over education has become the norm in U. S. schools.
Last week Mr Musk said the “mind virus is rife on college campuses”. He has also said that his companies cannot trust qualifications from universities and have to test their skills independently.
Musk already had set up Ad Astra, a school for his children and children of SpaceX employees. To say it’s innovative is an understatement, and I probably would not run a school quite that way. But let a thousand flowers bloom!
Again expect (and, if you pray, pray for!) more and more new schools to spring up as is already happening. Reinventing education is that needful, and the need is becoming more evident every day. (Thanks, Harvard.)
I don’t entirely disagree, but, my son (13), thinks Elon Musk is a god…. I do everything in my power to not let him anywhere near that vile man. That being said, education is in a sad state.
