Grooming Gangs and England’s Unwillingness to Defend Itself

An overlooked factor in the grooming gang scandal

This past week the scandal blew wide open of England’s “grooming gangs” — pedophilic Muslim rape gangs is more accurate — and how authorities, politicians, and fake news enabled and covered up the rape of thousands upon thousands of teen and even pre-teen English girls. The release of court records, which make for very difficult reading, and Elon Musk’s outrage on X have helped give this scandal the attention it deserves, the attention it should have gotten years ago. (This morning, Kier Starmer blames “the far Right” of course.)

I will not rehash the whole story nor go into the details that are difficult for even mean me to take in. Matt Goodwin has been following this story, and here is a good summary from him (with the warning that even his summary makes for difficult reading):

Instead, I want to suggest a factor that enabled this mass predation, a factor that has not been given enough attention — the English aversion towards defending themselves. And please note I am talking about the English. What follows may or may not apply to the Scots, Welsh, or Northern Irish. Also, to be fair, some of what I say does apply to too many Americans, particularly in Democrat cities, and I had quite a rant about that last week.

This is not the first time I’ve noted the problem of the English being unwilling to defend themselves. After the Southport murders, I talked about this problem (mainly after 8 minutes).

In short I noted times I personally observed English unwillingness to defend themselves against toxic anti-social behaviors while being very willing to punish those who do defend themselves. We now know of at least one father who was arrested trying to rescue his daughter from a grooming gang. And on a larger scale, we can all see how the English have put up with Just Stop Oil traffic blockers, Hamas Nazi hate marches in London on Saturdays, and more.

The English were not always this way. They certainly fought and defended themselves admirably in World War II and sacrificed greatly in that war and in World War I. But somehow post-war English, at least those in positions of authority, have become, well, cowardly as Ben Sixsmith writes.

I hate writing such things about the English. England almost became a second home for me, and I love them. But what I once respected as a “pond difference” really should not be respected in light of the toxic results. Excessive English tolerance and aversion to self-defense only works in a society that is entirely English or respects English societal norms. It will not work when you import invaders who would rather rape the English. And those invaders were let in because UK authorities, both Tory and Labour, put multiculturalism above common sense self-defense.

So, yes, I do think this timid tolerance and reluctance to defend themselves, their society and even their children has been a huge factor in the grooming gang scandal. In a healthy muscular self-respecting self-defending society, these Muslim child rape gangs would have been cracked down and hard as soon as they became known years ago. Instead they spread from city to city to city. For predators and criminals may be evil but many of them are not stupid. They will exercise their evil most in areas where there is a lack of muscular self-defense. And that characterizes most English cities.

That is not to downplay other important and related factors such as multiculturalism. As Matt Goodwin writes above:

These girls were sacrificed on the altar of multiculturalism and radical progressive ideology.

It was the liberal progressive obsession with maintaining multiculturalism and “diversity” that led officials to remain silent while stigmatising anybody who did speak about it as “far right”, “Islamophobic”, and “hateful”.

So I do not at all diminish other toxic aspects of what has sadly become England’s culture when I once again pound the table and assert that Western societies must be willing to defend themselves with all necessary force. Toxic anti-culture and ideologies have cowed the English and many Americans into being unwilling to defend ourselves. I noted last week that erosion of the values of the superiority of Western culture, of the value of our lives as well as the importance of our property rights have greatly weakened the will to self-defend.

So we must stop allowing multiculturalism and other woke isms from making us squeamish about self-defense. Horrific damage has already been done in the UK, in the US and across Europe from massive and feckless failure to defend, from even punishing self-defense.

I fear it may already be too late in the UK and Europe, but it’s not yet too late in the US. There must be a revival of self-defense . . . now.
