I agree with you. I think all this can be connected to designating certain crimes hate crimes decades ago. I was suspicious of that move as well and thought it bad law. The government has no right to evaluate our attitudes. Plus the word “hate” has become so liquid that it becomes impossible to defend against accusations.
All hate legislation is wrong-headed and potentially dangerous. It makes the claim that motivations behind an act can be perceived and are punishable if they are malicious. It is originally an attempt to cleanse the hearts of men from their racism through the courts. It's nuts, because that cannot be done. It's really just totalitarianism sneaking its way into the justice system. Such legislation is both unnecessary - if a person commits a crime, well then, sentence them for the crime! - and ultimately unjust, because our motivations are complex and actually not really knowable by other people: Prov. 14:10; I Samuel 16:7. All hate legislation should be removed from the books and the people who voted for it should be ashamed of their cowardice and/or moral stupidity.
This is what hapoens when Churches subvert the gospel message & acquiesce to woke cutural accomodations that defy the Bible. Phase 1 they support the censors, phase 2 they become the censored phase 3 they act all shocked when they are gonna be censored, so they write an open letter to the monster they midwifed. The big question for us is how long before this same thing happens in America? Driving home with my son last night I told him I might be dead before it happens but you & your six brothers & sisters all need to know this: the who, what, why, where & how you believe and have the ability to defend the true gospel with your lives because there will come a time when your beliefs will be seen as hate by others and maybe even by your own government-- but you must stand up for Jesus Christ and biblical authority
