About Those Supposedly Trying to Ban Nazis from Substack
It’s really an attack on Free Speech . . . and maybe on you.
A quick reality check about the campaign against Substack because of its commitment to free speech.
As you probably know, the campaign against Substack and free speech is under the guise of “Oh! Oh! Substack platforms Nazis!”
Well, as Elle Griffin has pointed out, Substack is a multitude of platforms controlled by the writers and to a large extent by the readers as well.
She spells that out well, and, unlike the President of Harvard, I don’t want to plagiarize her, so go read her post.
I wish to add two additional reality checks. Most of those upset about a few Nazis on Substack are not at all upset about a lot of Commies on Substack. That exposes the two-faced hypocrisy right there.
And a reminder that many who want to ban/cancel/punch Nazis also want to smear those they disagree with as Nazis — perhaps smear you as a Nazi — and ban/cancel/punch them. Ditto for many of those who loudly oppose “white supremacy”, “racism”, etc. You have have seen the woke drill.
Their real agenda isn’t excluding Nazis, who are a pretty much a bad joke in our society already; their agenda is attacking free speech — your freedom of speech.
The above also applies to attacks on X/Twitter.
I detest Nazis, Communists, and all totalitarians. That is one reason I am FOR Freedom of Speech and value X and Substack (and wish the two would get along better).
If you’re a substacker, join me and Paul Kingsnorth in co-signing Griffin’s post.
💯 agree 👍 👏👏👏👏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I am a free speech absolutist which is why I love Substack. The protests against the Israeli response to the Oct 7 attacks have exposed many as “fair weather” free speech advocates. Present all sides and let me decide; censor and lie and lose all trust
